About Reposts & General Info

In the year 2011, a year after the Chinese Year of the Tiger, Italy celebrated 100 years of Captain Salgari. As of then, the copyright hold on all of Captain Salgari's works have expired worldwide . His works are available (mainly in Italian) on different sites, such as WikiSource  (29.01.2026), liberliber.it (whom also posts other works whose copyright has expired (29.01.2026)),  salgari.org  (29.01.2026), and  emiliosalgari.it  (29.01.2026). To this list, I want to add this  page (29.01.2026), which showcases the artists whom have drawn for Captain Salgari's works and for which of his writings. Though Captain Salgari's works are available online in their original language, to my knowledge, this blog is the only  place that has begun to have English translations available, with the exception of a few, officially-translated-in-English works (most of them still being more readily available in Spanish). In the spirit of sharing, I want to add that you a...

Oliver Onions - Mompracem Vivrà - 1977 - English Translation (Mompracem Will Live On)

Image
Yet another masterpiece from Oliver Onions that doubles as an OST for the TV series of Sandokan that features actor Kabir Bedi in the main role of the prince turned pirate. Lyrics taken from the comment section. Thank you @ kitajima74 . Note : Though the song does not specifically mention "Mompracem", it is implied that that is the direction in which one is headed. That is why you will see "(Mompracem)" written like that, though you will not hear it mentioned in the song. Nella notte c'è una luce, mai si spegnerà In the (depth) of the night there's a light (that) will never die out ma buia è la strada che ci porta, verso... But dark is the road that leads us there, towards... (Mompracem) Sole grande, sole giallo, ci accompagnerà Great sun, yellow sun, it will come with us e vola un gabbiano che ci guida, verso... Together with a seagull that will guide us towards... (Mompracem) Una mano stringe il fiore della verità A hand grasps the flower of truth e ...

Oliver Onions - Sandokan Theme Song - 1976 - Italian Version + Lyrics (Sigla Italiana + Testo)

Image
After posting the English version of the song, it seemed only fair to post the original, Italian opening of the Sandokan series from 1976. Note : The following video contains the standard, main theme song and an extended instrumental version. The full version of the Italian opening stops at 3:05.  The English translation of the Italian lyrics that is present on this blog was done by me. Sandokan, Sandokan Più crudele è la guerra e l’uomo sa cos’è la guerra. (The more cruel war is, The more man understands how war truly is.) Caldo e tenero è l’amore e l’uomo sa cos’è l’amore. ( Warm and tender is the love, And man better understands what love truly is.) Giù dal cielo scende un tuono, tutto intorno un grande suono; (A thunder descends from the sky, Everything around roars;) nasce il seme dalla pianta: il grande albero adesso canta. (From the seed a plant sprouts: The big tree now sings.) Corre il sangue nelle vene, grande vento nella notte calda si alzerà! (Blood rushes throug...

Tales of Captain Salgari - Flyer

Image
New flyer.  The tiger is an old ClipArt from a previous version of Microsoft Publisher.  ___________________________________________________________________________________ Personal Notes : It is said that the stories written by Emilio Salgari are stories he would hear from sailors, when he would go to visit the dock. His best and most known work, " Sandokan, The Tiger of Malaysia " has been proven to bear resemblance to true historical facts, starting with the firstly-thought-of-as-fictional island, Mompracem (currently known as Kuraman Island), and with the strong impression that Sandokan is no other than a fictional representation of Syarif Osman, who ruled Marudu (north of Borneo) (I recommend you go  here  for more information about Sandokan or Syarif Osman. Miss Bianca has done a marvelous job in finding, gathering, and translating information about Salgari and his works, especially those concerning the character of Sandokan). Going by this, I strongly suspect ...
